What do you write about?

I’ve written on everything from barista training to cancer survivorship.

What inspired you to write?

I want to create a better world through books.

If you have a business, tell us about it:

I help people write books as a ghostwriter and developmental editor through my business the Writing Texan.

What is a typical day like for you?

I carve out time for self-cultivation first: drink a cup of tea, pray and meditate, clear the mental and physical space so I can concentrate. Between 10 am – 2 pm, I’m generally either writing or talking to people about writing. I also spend a lot of time talking to the dog, if I’m honest. I’ve got an enormous stack of books on multiple household surfaces, so I’m also trying to cultivate a daily reading habit. And then there’s that treadmill that’s currently covered in coats….

What do you most enjoy about what you do?

There’s always fresh information, something new to learn, some new topic to explore. Even though writing involves a lot of heavy lifting, there’s joy in crafting beautiful content. When it flows, it’s like snapping those last few pieces into a jigsaw puzzle.

What are some favorite books you’d recommend to our readers?

Anne LaMott’s Bird by Bird, Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities.

What advice do you have to offer our readers?

As an author, you probably know what you want your book to do for your reader. Do you know what you want it to do for you?

What would people be surprised to learn about you?

I’m not a fan of opera. In fact, I’m a pronounced not-fan.

What’s next for you?

New clients, new books. I’m also busy submitting fiction short stories to various publications.
