This brief book on Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome provides young people and their parents an excellent overview of what the disease is, including its history, probable causes, and potential treatments. While there is still no cure, there are coping strategies that can help patients better adjust to one of the more debilitating illnesses that affect thousands of youth in our country. With interviews from patients around the globe included, “An Adolescent’s Guide to ME/CFS” sheds light on the lives of people suffering with this little known disease. This book serves as a balm for families and individuals that may not know what disease their loved ones are affected with, and takes the next step to educating the world about ME/CFS.
Vidhima Shetty is a young writer from California who actively seeks to promote the awareness of ME/CFS in her community and around the world. In 2016, she wrote an article about ME/CFS for her school paper that reached international recognition. After speaking to her school board about the disease and doing more research, she found that most high schools across the nation rarely knew what ME/CFS was and that many adolescents of her age with the disease were struggling with their illnesses. She hopes that her efforts will contribute to the propagation of awareness for ME/CFS and patients around the world. As the founder of The Write Reasons, a writing blog (thewritereason.org), she is committed to helping other individuals find their passion for writing. You can find
