Author Bio

Sheila J. Brooks, a native of New York City, spent 41 years living in Mount Vernon, New York, where she proudly raised her adult son and daughter. While she initially pursued a voice major during her time at a prestigious high school, her true life’s purpose was to provide compassionate care to those in need. This calling led her to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing, and she embarked on her career as a registered nurse in 1979. With a solid professional foundation in healthcare, her ability to demystify medical terminology proved invaluable when she penned her memoir. In addition to writing, she is a published poet, and a skilled voice-over artist.
